America's Got Talent is hosting an Open Casting Call on February 3rd and 4th, 2012 at the Charlotte Convention Center, in Charlotte, NC. America's Got Talent is the only show open to all ages and talents, and is currently entering its seventh season. The show airs on the NBC television network. Auditions have already been held in Austin, St. Louis, Washington DC, Anaheim, and Tampa. Three cities remain: Charlotte, San Francisco and, a second trip to New York.
Blake Rothmel, a local rapper, is auditioning for America's Got Talent this Friday. Rothmel, aka as "The Truth of The QC," is one of the hottest music artist's representing Charlotte, NC. Rothmel, born in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, moved to CLT in 2003 and has been representing the Queen City ever since.
Rothmel is a man of many talents and aliases (Mr. Fantastic, Willy. B. Rotten and The Cadillac of The Kack, just to name a few.) With a degree in Broadcasting Technologies his skill-sets include: graphic design, videography, social network marketing, sound design and audio production, and much more.
A few months ago, Rothmel was featured on 95.1 Kiss FM's "Otis O Show," and his popularity has been growing steadily ever since. Rothmel has performed at some of Charlotte's hottest clubs and music venues, such as Halo, BuckHead Saloon, Bad Dog's University and Amos' Southend.
One of Rothmel's most impressive talents is undoubtedly his writing method. Or more specifically, his "non-writing" method. Rothmel says that he feels like a pen and pad bind him. "I feel like my songs are already written, just kind of floating around in little pieces. I just pace around the room and piece it together in my head," says Rothmel.
Growing up, Rothmel was always particularly drawn to music. He wrote his first rap when he was eight years old for a call in radio contest in FL. Inspired by "Outkast," Rothmel started officially writing his own raps in the ninth grade. His unique sound can be compared to "Sublime," "Lil Wayne," and "Oukast," "all mixed into one," says Rothmel.
Rothmel is also performing at InkFest Live on February 4th, and at the North Carolina Music Factory on February 15th. When asked about his journey in the music industry, Rothmel says, "the key to this thing is patience and perseverance. I've been rapping since I was fourteen, and next Sunday I turn 26. I won't stop until I either hit the dirt or the stars."
